School Commission

The School Commission is a group of nine school parent who serve staggered three year terms. The purpose of the School Commission is to develop and define the policies which govern the operation of Saint Monica School and to promote implementation of those policies. Working in close collaboration with the School Principal, the School Commission develops policies that will enable the school to fulfill its philosophy and accomplish its goals.

School Commission meetings are open to all and there are opportunities to address the commission with concerns. Commission members’ names are published in the School Directory. If a parent has a concern about a school policy, they are welcome to talk to a School Commission member about it.

In addition to setting policy for the school, the School Commission creates the school budget, which in turn is approved by the Parish Council. Parents (or students) who have suggestions that may impact the budget are encouraged to bring them to the School Commission for discussion.

If you feel called to serve on the School Commission, watch for announcements for applications in the Spring. Members are chosen by discernment. Ask a current member for more information and come to a meeting to see what they do.
