For a number of weeks, culminating during Catholic Schools Week, all of the students at St. Monica School were invited to bring in donations to support Sojourner Family Peace Center. These items consisted of personal care items for women and children. The children’s generosity resulted in a delivery of a multitude of items that the Sojourner Family Peace Center was so thankful to receive.
Five students from each of the Jr. High grade levels participated in the Dominican Challenge at Dominican High School on March 3. 2017. Each team was to design and market a simple machine. The 8th grade team, consisting of Riley Halpern, David Regan, Mary Mitchell, Christian Cushman and Aidan Phillips, won first place for Best Marketing Presentation.

The 7th grade students studied about ancient China in social studies class. As a culminating activity, the students participated in a Chinese Culture Day and celebrated the Chinese New Year (The Year of the Rooster). They learned about traditional clothing, painted Chinese symbols, learned several Chinese words, learned to count in Chinese, made lanterns and a rooster, learned about the traditional Chinese New Year celebrations, and were served Chinese food for lunch.
