Student Life

It’s the one question we hear most from prospective students and families: “How can I be certain that St. Monica School is the best choice for our child?” Every child is precious, and every parent realizes that the educational environment they choose will have a profound impact.

Student life at Saint Monica School centers on one goal: Achieving Your Potential. Creating a learning environment that makes that possible for everyone includes many initiatives. Some of our key focus areas are:

Safeguarding All of God’s Family Resources

We have integrated this proven Archdiocese program that helps protect children from sexual abuse and related dangers. http://www.archmil.org/offices/safeguarding.htm

Discipleship Development Program

St. Monica holds as its mission the creation of an environement where children and their families can "learn, live, and love through Jesus".  One of the many ways that the St. Monica community lives out this mission is through our Discipleship Development Program.

Bullying Prevention Program

St. Monica School teachers and staff have received training in the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program (OBPP). OBPP has 35 years of research and casework behind it and has been successfully implemented throughout the world in countries such as the United States, England, Mexico, Germany, and Norway. We are blessed to have our school Guidance Counselor, Missy Stewart, and a number of staff members enthusiastically leading our implementation efforts of the OBPP Program.

Unlike a curriculum that only addresses bullying at the classroom level and for a limited period of time, OBPP addresses bullying at the school, classroom, individual, and community levels. Students receive a consistent, reinforced message.

The goals of the OBPP are:

  • Reduce existing bullying problems among students
  • Prevent the development of new bullying problems
  • Achieve better peer relations at school
